Yet another amususing and interesting podcast. I came here from Martin Bailey podcast and am in the process of catching up.

Was really interested in the comment regarding lens adjustment on the new EOS1D-MkIII. This is true its in a menu called "AF Micro-adjustment" and allows an adjustment range of ±20 steps in front of (-) or behind (+) the point of focus.

How cool. I dont expect to be replacing my 5D anytime soon, but...

It is really not a case of offence, just passing on information because people I know have had legal action taken against them. I have nothing to do with these companies, and am just trying to warn you that you are on rocky ground when suggesting someone is breaking the law (when they have not been charged). What you say may well be true. Many people have faced legal actions from true statements, as sadly people know that not everyone wants (or has the money) to get their own lawyer and fight.

I hope, and think, that nothing will come of it. It's just good to let people know that comments published over the net are still restricted by the same laws a other media.

John, Chris, Ibarionex,
It took me longer than I planned to listen to this week's show, but I thoroughly enjoy each one, and this one was not an exception. I really appreciated what Ibarionex had to say about what you absorb by studying photobooks.

Can't wait for the next show, but will try to be patient!

BTW John, I can't get the links to work in the show notes. Not a big deal, but more of an FYI.

Ok first of all - sorry if my comments offended you or anyone else.

What I believe I said was that importing goods without intending to pay import duty is smuggling. I also implied that if you use one of the hong kong import companies and hope to get away with not being charged import duty then you're hoping to get away with smuggling. If the company selling the goods will only pay the import *if you get a bill* then that's also hoping to get away with smuggling.

The fact that customs and excise look for goods being shipped in and when they find them they send you a bill does not absolve you of your legal obligation to pay import duty on imported goods even if Customs and Excise missed them on the way through.

And regarding the accusation of slander - it's only slander if the accusation is levelled at someone. I only spoke in generalities.

Note - I'm not a lawyer so don't take anything I said here as gospel.

John's comment that buying from stores in Hong Kong who pay any import duty for you is smuggling. Is wrong - attempting to and not paying import duty is smuggling. Paying import duty when it is charged is not. This comment could be regarded as slander against these businesses.

You really need to be careful. I know of 2 people who have had legal action taken against them for making comments on the internet; both were about the same business. 1 who lost, and one who had a good lawyer and it end up okay (if slightly expensive).

Thanks for the feedback Jona. This was an oversight on my part. I included the show notes in the Lyrics section of the ID3 tags and had planned to include them here as well but it was late and I forgot. I've updated the post now to include the full notes.

All the best,
John

I'm missing all the links of the Episode. From the flickr groups to the lenses. Would be nice to have longer shownotes, because ut's difficult to remember everything after licening to you for one hour.
